Front desk or clinical badge?

Clinical staff usually show their credentials on line two so patients know who's treating them: dentists use DDS or DMD (the two degrees are equivalent — use the one your school awarded), hygienists RDH, and certified assistants CDA. Specialists often add the specialty, e.g. “DMD, Orthodontics”.

Front desk, treatment coordinators and office managers list their role instead. Some practices give the front office a different finish — like Gold Glitter — so patients can find them easily in the waiting area.

Matching badges for the practice

A matching set of badges makes a small team look like a brand. Pick one color and size for everyone and use line two for each person's credentials or role. To replace the tooth icon with your practice logo, upload it in the badge maker or email it after checkout.

Care and cleaning

Wipe acrylic badges with mild soap and water and a soft cloth. Strong alcohol and solvent-based surface disinfectants can cloud or craze acrylic over time — test your operatory wipe on the back of the badge before using it on the front.

Magnet or pin back?

Magnet back

  • No holes in shirts, scrubs or blazers
  • Quick to move between outfits
  • Best on light and medium-weight fabric

Pin back

  • Holds firmly on thick knits, fleece and aprons
  • Slightly lower price
  • No magnet — suitable near implanted medical devices

Pacemaker or ICD? Choose the pin back. Device manufacturers advise keeping magnets away from implanted cardiac devices, and a name badge sits close to the chest.

Ordering for a team

Add one badge per person: type their name and title, click “Add to cart”, then type the next name. In the badge maker your logo and design stay set between names, so every badge matches. Each person becomes a separate line in your cart, so nothing gets mixed up. For long lists, email the names and titles toinfo@avdeb.com and we'll help you put the order together.

Frequently asked questions

Should a dentist's badge say DDS or DMD?

Use the degree you were awarded — DDS and DMD are equivalent. You can also write “Dr. First Last” on line one and the specialty on line two.

What credentials go on a dental hygienist or assistant badge?

Hygienists usually use RDH; certified dental assistants use CDA, and expanded-function assistants may use EFDA where their state recognizes it. Otherwise list the role, e.g. “Dental Assistant”.

Can you put our dental practice logo on the badges?

Yes. Upload it in our badge maker when you order and check it on the preview, or email it to info@avdeb.com with your order number. We'll print it in place of the tooth icon on every badge in that order.

Are magnetic name badges safe if I have a pacemaker?

Choose the pin back if you have a pacemaker or ICD. Device manufacturers advise keeping magnets away from implanted cardiac devices, and a badge sits close to the chest.

Can we order badges for the whole dental team?

Yes. Add one badge per team member with their own name and role — each is a separate line in the cart — or email us the list of names.

How do I clean an acrylic dental name badge?

Mild soap and water with a soft cloth. Avoid strong alcohol and solvent cleaners, which can cloud acrylic, and test any surface disinfectant on the back first.
