“Dr.” before the name or credentials after it?

Either works — pick one style for the whole practice so badges look consistent. “Dr. Daniel Reyes” on line one is friendlier for patients; “Daniel Reyes” with “MD” or “DO” on line two is more formal and leaves room for a specialty, e.g. “MD, Family Medicine”.

For other staff, put the role patients need to know on line two: “Medical Assistant”, “PA-C”, “Phlebotomist”, “Front Desk”. Clear roles help patients know who they're talking to, and some states and employers require clinicians to show their license type on their ID.

Wearing a badge with your hospital ID

Most hospitals issue their own photo ID for door access. A personalized acrylic badge is worn alongside it — usually on the white coat pocket or opposite chest — so patients can read the name and role from across the room. Check your facility's dress code before ordering.

Keeping acrylic badges clean

Wipe badges with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid alcohol and harsh solvents: they can cloud or crack acrylic over time. If your facility requires disinfection, test the approved wipe on the back of the badge first.

Magnet or pin back?

Magnet back

  • No holes in shirts, scrubs or blazers
  • Quick to move between outfits
  • Best on light and medium-weight fabric

Pin back

  • Holds firmly on thick knits, fleece and aprons
  • Slightly lower price
  • No magnet — suitable near implanted medical devices

Pacemaker or ICD? Choose the pin back. Device manufacturers advise keeping magnets away from implanted cardiac devices, and a name badge sits close to the chest.

Ordering for a team

Add one badge per person: type their name and title, click “Add to cart”, then type the next name. In the badge maker your logo and design stay set between names, so every badge matches. Each person becomes a separate line in your cart, so nothing gets mixed up. For long lists, email the names and titles toinfo@avdeb.com and we'll help you put the order together.

Frequently asked questions

Should a doctor's name badge say “Dr.” or “MD”?

Either. “Dr. Name” on line one feels more personal; “Name” with “MD” or “DO” on line two is more formal and leaves room for a specialty. Use whatever your practice prefers — we print exactly what you type.

Are magnetic name badges safe near pacemakers?

If you or a staff member has a pacemaker or ICD, choose the pin back. Device manufacturers advise keeping magnets away from implanted cardiac devices, and a badge sits close to the chest.

Can you add our clinic or hospital logo?

Yes. Upload it in our badge maker as you order — the preview shows it on the badge — or email it to info@avdeb.com with your order number. Make sure your organization allows its logo on staff-purchased badges.

How do I clean an acrylic medical name badge?

Use mild soap and water with a soft cloth. Avoid alcohol and strong solvents, which can cloud or crack acrylic. Test any required disinfectant wipe on the back first.

Can we order badges for the whole practice?

Yes. Add one badge per person with their own name and role, or email a list of names to info@avdeb.com and we'll help you place the order.

What size badge fits a long specialty or credential string?

Choose 3″ × 1.5″. Line two holds up to 35 characters, such as “MD, Internal Medicine” or “DNP, FNP-C”.
