First names, full names or roles?

Most restaurants print first names only on server tags — it's friendlier, and guests use it when they call someone over. Hotels and fine dining more often use a full name with a role on line two: “Concierge”, “Sommelier”, “Front Desk”, “Manager on Duty”.

Some hotels add the languages a staff member speaks on line two, e.g. “English · Español”, so international guests know who to ask.

Magnet or pin for restaurant uniforms

Magnets suit dress shirts and blouses because they leave no holes in the uniform. On thick aprons, vests and chef-style jackets a pin back holds better through a long, busy shift. Name tags are usually worn by front-of-house staff; most kitchens keep pins and jewelry out of food prep areas, so check your house rules for back-of-house.

Ordering for the whole staff

Add one tag per person with their name and role — each becomes its own line in the cart. Upload your restaurant or hotel logo in the badge maker, or send it after checkout, and we'll print it on every tag in the order instead of the icon. Note the style name so tags for new hires match the rest of the team.

Magnet or pin back?

Magnet back

  • No holes in shirts, scrubs or blazers
  • Quick to move between outfits
  • Best on light and medium-weight fabric

Pin back

  • Holds firmly on thick knits, fleece and aprons
  • Slightly lower price
  • No magnet — suitable near implanted medical devices

Ordering for a team

Add one badge per person: type their name and title, click “Add to cart”, then type the next name. In the badge maker your logo and design stay set between names, so every badge matches. Each person becomes a separate line in your cart, so nothing gets mixed up. For long lists, email the names and titles toinfo@avdeb.com and we'll help you put the order together.

Frequently asked questions

Should restaurant name tags show first names only?

Many restaurants do — it's friendlier and easier for guests. We print exactly what you type, so use first names, full names or a name plus role.

Can you put our restaurant or hotel logo on the tags?

Yes. Upload it in our badge maker while you order, or email it to info@avdeb.com with your order number. We'll print it on every tag in that order.

Magnetic or pin name tags for servers?

Magnets for shirts and blouses — no holes in uniforms. Pins for aprons, vests and heavier jackets, where a magnet can slide.

What color name tag works best with a black uniform?

Black with light lettering is the most popular — it looks built-in. Gold stands out more and is often used for hosts and managers.

Can we order name tags for the whole restaurant staff?

Yes. Add one tag per person, or email us a list of names and roles at info@avdeb.com and we'll help you put the order together.

Can hotel staff name tags show the languages they speak?

Yes. Type them on line two, for example “English · Français”. Up to 35 characters fit.
